The Birth of Manhattan

Felt like drawing something dramatic with a lot of emotion and complicated lighting. The composition is based on the panel in the book but the colors are taken from screenshots from the movie. If you haven't already, go read Watchmen before you see the movie.

Janey Slater runs from Jon Osterman shortly before he is nuked by the intrinsic field subtractor. He calls out to her, wanting her to stay with him in his last moments, but she can't bear to watch his death. This is in 1959.
